Week two at HITS Chicago brought even more top finishes home for Todd Minikus and his incredibly talented horses and riders. Taking nine horses with three riders, Minikus and his team took top ten finishes in almost every class they entered this past weekend. A hefty feat for anyone at a regular show, let alone at the level of HITS shows.
Kicking off the week’s activities was Minikus aboard Erin Schiller’s Luken Du Rouet, the pair claimed victory in the $5,000 Johnson Horse Transport Open 1.40m. Following his success with Luken Du Rouet, Minikus rode Amex Z who is owned by Bit by Bit to two top ten finishes in the $35,000 Boehring Ingelheim Welcome and in the $35,000 AIG. Chaco 34 also stamped himself in the top five in the $750 1.30m Jumper with Minikus, and rounding out his weekend Minikus took tenth in the $500,000 HITS Chicago Grand Prix aboard Chaventyno owned by Legacy Stables.
For Team Minikus riders Victoria Zelch and Catherine Wachtell, there were no shortage of top placing’s as well. Zelch rode Sniper and Dazzle White both owned by Musical Woods LLC to top finishes in classes ranging from $500 JR/AO/AM CWD Jumper 1.30m, the $2,500 NAL JR/AO/AM 1.25m Classic, and the $3,000 Summit Joint Performance JR/AO/AM 1.35m. Wachtell competed Coverboy, Indy Van de Roten both whom are owned by Autumn View Farm to top ten finishes in the $750 JR/AO/AM CWD Jumper 1.40m and in the $5,000 Summit Joint Performance JR/AO/AM 1.40m classes.
In total, Minikus and his incredible team of horses and riders took home six top five finishes, and five top ten finishes to round out a successful weekend at HITS Chicago held at Balmoral Park.
Next stop for Team Minikus after Balmoral Park, Chicago and their HITS summer series is the Hampton Classic August 26 – September 2.
